American politics isn’t about left vs. right. It’s not about values, or policy, or even vibes. It’s about complaints. Yes—what flavor of bullshit are you willing to tolerate in the news cycle?
If you hear people complaining about “major issues” like double-digit # of trans people playing sports, or, people not using their correct pronouns or using whatever bathrooms, that is NOT Republican administration.
If you hear people complaining about halting scientific and health researches, dismantling institutions, incompetent fucks in consequential government positions, gutting environment regulations, rolling back Rights, or immigrants being sent to third country without due process, that is Republican administration.
We, as a society would be better off when we choose to choose “gullible bitches complaining about the stupidest shit that has literally no impact in your or anyone’s lives“, because that would mean, adults are in charge.
Another way to look is what kind of bad-faith argument you want to hear from bad-faith centrism.
The choice is always:
hearing bad-faith arguments while living in optimistic economies reality,
vs.
hearing bad-faith arguments while living in pessimistic economies reality.
For instance:
Bad-faith Centrism during Democratic administration (during post-Covid economics):
“They change the definition of inflation” while living in “inflation is transitory” realities under Dem administration.
Then, US economies recovered fastest in G7, being “Envy of the world”.
Now, bad-faith Centrism have to say “Tariff is paid by foreign government” while living in “GDP contraction is not actually bad” realities under Republican administration.
For Megan Trainor, it was All About That Bass, for yall, its all about them choices. The choice of what kind of complaints you want to hear!
Choices Choices.
American politics isn’t a binary of values. It’s a menu of what you’re willing to roll your eyes at.
Choose your poison.
Then complain loudly—because that’s the true bipartisan pastime.
